HUAWEI Mate 9 Hands-on Review

I just received this phone today and switched from Verizon to AT&T to get it to work. I had no issues with SIM cards or setup. I will give a quick impression now and then update later after I’ve spent some time with it. Out of the box, externally it looks beautiful. I love the metal back and the dark color. The screen is huge with very small bezels. I’m used to 2k screens but the 1080 on this phone looks so crisp I barely notice the difference. The software seems pretty well optimized. I was able to switch launchers easily. I had some issues with their backup software so I just manually did everything through google. Very little lag and everything opens immediately. The camera is very fun to use and has a lot of features to play with.

*Weekend Update*

After spending the weekend with the phone I am still very happy with my purchase.

The battery life is great compared to my old phone. I play Clash Royale and check it frequently for texting and social media and snapchat and I can easily get through the day without having to charge it. There is very little drain while the phone is idle also, which is nice. As long as you don’t leave a ton of apps open constantly. They have a function that alerts you to background processes using up heavy battery, but it can get a little frustrating with Facebook and Spotify. Those two apps will constantly restart themselves in the background to refresh info, so I’d say once every hour or so I get a warning alerting me to close background apps that aren’t physically running on the phone. The app itself is killed there is just a process running. Would be nice to be able to permanently lock the Facebook app from reopening itself, but I don’t so much blame the phone for that as I do Facebook developers.

Performance is still great. With past phones they tend to heat up when using games, even right out of the box, but the Mate can handle everything I threw at it with no lag. I tested Clash Royale, the new Roller Coaster Tycoon port, and Non-stop Knight. No problems across the board.

I noticed the notifications do not appear on your lock screen by default, like not even an icon saying you have a notification. You have to go into each app in the settings individually and select which appear on the lock screen. Otherwise without unlocking it you have no way of knowing you have a message besides the LED. So it can be fixed you just have to take the time to do it. Speaking of unlocking the phone the fingerprint reader is phenomenal. I’ve never used a backside reader before so I figured it would be weird getting used to, but this fingerprint reader is so quick it to me no time at all to adjust. You don’t have to click to turn the screen on at all you just tap your finger on the reader quick with the screen completely black and it will unlock to your home screen instantly. Also there is feature that you can swipe on the reader to scroll through pictures or to bring down the settings screen which I think is pretty cool. Finally you can double click the volume down button to instantly take a picture from the lock screen. Again this happens almost immediately, it’s one of my favorite features so far.

I changed my rating to 5 stars for now because I do love the time I’ve spent with the phone. I’ll probably update again after about a month, and definitely after they push the Alexa update that is supposed to be coming. Until then, enjoy if you decide to buy! It’s a great deal!

LG G6 Review: Better than the Note 4 and S7

I love the phone, the camera done very good job during our trip to Omaha Zoo and the Aquarium.

LG G6
LG G6

I have had the phone for 5 days now coming from Galaxy note note4.

The Galaxy note 4 is solid phone and one of the best phones in the market. Moving from Note 4 to LG G6 was a good move. It will take you a day or two to get used to the 18:9 ratio.

18:9 screen ratio means that tge screen is little taller and a little thinner.

The LG G6 has many great features, I will start with pro and cons while comparing it to note 4, Galaxy S7 and S8.

Pros

1- LG G6 boost a good camera that is good as and if not even better than Note4 and Galaxy S7. Taking photos In the day light or strong indoor lighting the camera has done very well. But the low light photos suffered some noise. I would say S7 and S8 may somewhat better than LG G6 in low light shooting. But, you are able to get better pictures with LG G6 if you use the manual shooting feature under settings.

2- screen is stunning and smooth. May be it is not as bright as the Galaxy S7 and the Note4 but the screen is bright enough for the daily use.

3- the colors are true and better than Note4 when playing High Def video on YouTube.

4- my favorite features in LG G6 is the thumb security scanner in the back, with split second I’m able to unlock my phone without the need to try to swipe multiple times like Note 4. It is fast accurate and once you setup you will never go back to pattern and security code

5- the phone is fast and very light and the battery last longer than the Note 4 and S7, also it does not become as hot as the Note 4 when watching a movie for couple hours or playing video games.

Cons

I hope LG will make the camera little sharper and better in low light.

The screen could be a little brighter.

The LG G6 is one of the best phone in the market and is better in everyway than the Note 4 and S7. I’M m very happy with my move from Note 4 to LG products.

Good Job LG

Best Quick Charge 3.0 USB Type C Car Charger

CELERITY Quick Charge 3.0 Dual USB Type C Car ChargerThis is an excellent, fairly small Quick Charge 3.0 car charger. (It actually fit in a 12V charge port inside a console with a cover where another similar product from another manufacturer did not.) It seems to operate perfectly, and quick charged my new HTC 10 just fine. It has the Quick Charge 3.0 charge port, as well as an additional port that can charge at up to 2.4 amps.

The only minor quibble I have with this charger is the light on it, which is on at all times. I prefer to leave the charger plugged in constantly, so this light is a little annoying, and also at least a small waste of power. (Yes, I realize the power wasted is probably trivial.) This was not an important enough negative, though, for me to deduct a star from my rating.

I also want to make sure, in writing this review, that people reading it understand what Quick Charge 3.0 is and isn’t. Because from reading some of the other reviews, it is pretty clear that there are a lot of misconceptions.

Only a very few devices out there right now take advantage of the Quick Charge 3.0 standard. You can find a list of them, as of May 24, on Qualcomm’s site.

There are ten devices on that list. (More devices are being added to the list all the time, of course. For example, my phone–the HTC 10, which is a Quick Charge 3.0 device–was not on the last list, which was dated in early April, as the list came out before the HTC 10 did.)

That list from Qualcomm also shows which devices can take advantage of Quick Charge 2.0, a standard this charger can also provide. There are a lot more of those devices on the list. (I counted seventy-five.)

Here’s the point: every one of those Quick Charge devices is an Android smart phone or tablet. Apple devices are not Quick Charge devices! That’s not to say this charger won’t do a great job of charging your Apple devices. It certainly will. It just isn’t going to charge them any faster than any other charger capable of supplying 2.4 Amps (for Apple devices that can accept 2.4 Amps – some can’t accept that much.)

If you’ve been using a 1.0 Amp charger to charge your iPhone 6s or your iPad, and you switch to this charger, then sure, your phone or iPad will charge much faster than it used to charge. But that has nothing to do with the Quick Charge technology, and everything to do with the increased amps this charger is providing your phone.

I apologize if you are one of the people reading this review thinking, “Yeah, I already knew this stuff”, but I really felt the need to explain it, because from reading other reviews it is very clear there is a lot of confusion about this. I certainly want people to purchase this car charger if it is the right car charger for them, and if they are buying it for the right reasons. I just don’t want to see someone who is already charging their Apple devices with a 2.4 Amp charger buying this one because of the Quick Charge 3.0 in the description, thinking it is going to charge their Apple devices faster, because it just isn’t going to do that.

CELERITY Quick Charge 3.0 Dual USB Type C Car ChargerI received this car charger at a discount, in exchange for my unbiased review.

I hope you found this review helpful. On the other hand, if you did not find this review helpful, I’d be interested in hearing why, so that I can attempt to edit it and make it more helpful to both you and others. If you leave a comment on the review, suggesting how it would be more helpful, I promise to respond to your comment, and to attempt to incorporate your suggestion in my review, if it is at all possible for me to do so. My goal is to write reviews that help people, as I have been helped by the reviews others have written.

Top 5 Best iPhone 7 Plus Cases

Looking for a protective and inexpensive casefor your new iPhone 7 Plus? We found the best protective cases for your brand new phone.

No.1 Aluminum iPhone 7 Plus Metal Bumper Case

74f31a59a8d67e1b973dab466d1758a4-image-220x264I have a white skin on my iphone 7 and I really wanted to find something unique while still showing the skin. This case does just that. The ring is adequate and gets the job done but isn’t perfect when using it for one handed use, but as a phone stand it is good. The design is exactly like it shows, and I love it. It has a very small lip for the front screen but with a screen protector it doesn’t cover that. I love it so far, anot so much for its protection but for its looks. I have yet to drop my phone so we will see how it holds up. It is aluminum so i don’t have high hopes, but I don’t mind.

Love the case. Its slim enough to not add extra bulk but provides basic protection for the phone. I upgraded from the 6 to the 7 Plus so the size was an adjustment for me. I felt like I was going to drop it while typing or reaching to the opposite side of the screen. The ring on the back helps so much! I allows me to hold the iPhone securely in a number of positions and makes it feel a lot better in my hand. The only drawback is the kickstand function. While it works great for kickstand it does not hold the phone at a great angel for watching movies. There than that it is well worth the money. Highly recommend.

No.2 iPhone 7 Plus Qi Wireless Charging Leather Case

8c9fe1d88a59ce273b025fc05c440640-image-220x264This Qi charging case only for iPhone 7 Plus with new improved built-in Qi wireless receiver module chip. Initial impressions are very good. Build quality is excellent and the case fits well on the phone. The metal detail on the case is a black chrome finish and looks very cool – it’s not shiny chrome like the pictures imply. The case is surprisingly thin and not too heavy. I was expecting it to be much more bulky. The Qi charging function works like a charm. My vehicle has a built in Qi charger and the ability to charge without fussy cables is pretty awesome. It’s hard to say how much actual protection this case provides and I’m not sure how durable the charger will be if the case suffers a drop – time will tell and I will update this review if it proves unreliable.

No.3 iPhone 7 Plus Slim Folio Leather Case

189b8f9176b6912176f57c7678e52801-image-220x264The hand feeling of the premium leather is top-grade. Each piece of natural leather has its own veins and pores, so the texture of each product you receive is unique. What may seem like an imperfection is actually what makes it special.

The cover arrived ahead of time so there was little wait time there. ( in fact it got here before my phone lol). It was easy to install and fits like a glove. It’s thin, not bulky at all. The cover folds back when I use my phone, or I can close it to talk or listen to music. All the cut outs for the volume, etc are all easy to get to, but the phone is still protected if I drop it. Everyone who has seen it really likes how it looks. It is a quality product made of real leather. I really like the fact that it has a cover over the face of the phone because many times I have dialed a number just by putting my phone in my pocket. That alone was a huge reason that I purchased it. I am so glad that this is the phone case I got out of the millions out there. I would definitely do it again.

No.4 iPhone 7 Plus Leather Back Cover Case with Stand

e2e2eae1df9d4eb6a084ea1680300ba2-image-220x264Sleek quality design built with the highest quality materials. Perfectly slim and compact to easily attach to your phone. Suitable for any time you need to view your phone hands free – Great for watching videos or displaying pictures.Conveniently and easily open the metal kickstand. With just one pull or push of your fingertip, unlock or snap on the kickstand.

A great feature of this product is the kickstand that is built into the case. This is great for setting the phone down and looking at pictures or videos or anything else. I also like to use the kickstand when I am showing groups of people a display on my phone. It’s better than just handing my phone over to people. I particularly like this because I work with children and rather than them touching my phone, I can put the phone down and show a video or whatever else I was looking at with them.

I recently got this so I can’t say how well it will do overtime, but I will update my review if I notice any problems with their ability or long Jevity as time goes on. For now, I’m really pleased with this. It looks very substantial and much more expensive than it was. I highly recommend it. I have it on my phone so I couldn’t take a photo of the case on my phone but I did take a photo of it in the package so that you can see what it looks like. This would also make a great gift as it does appear substantial in the packaging is nice as well. Happy shopping!

No.5 iPhone 7 Plus Cartoon Flip Cover Case

iPhone 7 Plus Cartoon Flip Cover CaseThe case surrounds all the edges, cover the whole phone with a full body protection on front and back when phone in your pocket and purse, well protected, more safe including the volume buttons and the mute switch, not just a bumper guard for the sides or back, really 360 protection. View Window for Multi-information: Signal, Battery Status, Messages, Missed Calls, Time/Date, Current Music Details (if using Music Player), etc.Built-in Stand Function: Plus an Insert Kickstand for Adjustable View Watching.

I was definitely not expecting this case to feel so protective yet look nice. Have had many wallet type cases in past but this is the most protective feeling one thus far. Got it in red to pair with matte black iPhone 7 Plus. Clear TPU case on inside- phone fits nice & snug. Yes, the charging port is a bit tight but I don’t have difficulty plugging it in. There is a cardboard/paper type material inside the clear TPU- the backside of it. I thought it was insert & came out but it’s part of the case. Buttons feel nice & responsive. Another feature is when open, magnet will hold it open when folded back. Exactly what I wanted.

  • The View Window function allows for so much! Time, missed calls and messages can be checked in an instant. You can also accept / reject calls without opening the case

Not sure what went wrong with some of the other cases. I have no issues with the charging port, it all connects fine. Colors are not quite as bright as they appear online but it’s still turquoise, the case stays closed which was my main reason for buying this one over some of the other designs since the suction cup style didn’t look like it would be very sturdy, have yet to drop my phone (hoping I dont but I know I will) but the case looks like it will offer more than enough protection, it goes all the way around the phone nothing is exposed. The back is plastic but most cases are since the metal interferes with signal. also had no issues getting the phone back out of the case though it is a snug fit which is good. Overall very pleased exactly what I expected, you can talk with the cover closed no problem and the screen auto picks up the cover and adjusts the display, it’s really neat actually. I looked at ever cover available for this phone and this seemed like the best pick in this style, I’d recommend it so if you are on the fence like I was go ahead and get it I think you’l be happy.

That’s it!

Now, get the best out of these wireless charging equipment to power-up your iPhone effortlessly.

Ideally, it would have been better if Apple added wireless charging technology to its iPhone. It’s not clear yet why the tech giant has continued to avoid it.

Most of us had expected iPhone 7 to come with the wireless charging. But, the new iPhone hasn’t got it either.

What do you think why Apple is not adding wireless charging technology to its iPhone? Do share your thoughts with us in the comment, on Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. Also, make sure to try our app on your iPhone and iPad.

Best Qi Wireless Charger

Bought two different kinds. THis was the more expensive. It’s easy to tell when it’s placed correctly, which is in just about any position. However, not a great one to put by the bed as when it’s charging it also becomes a night light.

  • Wireless Charging:Just place devices with Qi-Enabled in the charging area, then you are free to enjoy your wireless and limitless charging experience.
  • Charging: Up to 5V-2A input and 5V-1A output,Equipped with power-efficient idle mode that never overcharges your battery or wastes energy.
  • Slip-Proof Charging Pad: Anti-Slip pad ensures safety for your device during charging. Friendly LED light indicates operation of wireless charging pad.
  • Light-Weight: the disk-shaped design has a diameter of only 10 CM and a thickness of 10mm, which makes it light-weight and protable.

nillkin-qi-qi-wireless-charger

I always thought that wireless charging was something of a gimmick. I still remember some of the early wireless chargers that were easily in the $30-$60 range, depending on the particular one, including even some of the official ones from Google! Surely the mundane struggle of plugging in my phone once a day was not worth THAT much.

Then along came this little thing for the low, low price of $9. That indeed seemed low enough to avoid the nuisance of plugging in my phone every single day.

Pros:

1) Charges my Nexus 5 even through its not-exactly-thin case

2) Lights do a good job of distinguishing charging from not-charging state–dim red for “not-charging” and bright blue for “charging”

3) Charging seems relatively quick, based on the estimation from Android. Take this with a grain of salt, though–I only ever charge my phone overnight, so I’ve not observed its charging rate firsthand

Cons:

1) Bright blue light indicating charging is a little troublesome if you, like me, keep charge your phone in your bedroom. It’s a shame there’s no way to dim it.

I disabled the blue light that flashes while charging. Here’s how. Unplug the device, remove the adhesive rubber pads on the bottom of the device and remove the screws with a very small screwdriver. Separate the top and bottom pieces and the inner circuit board will be visible. There are four tiny LED bulbs that are labeled on the circuit board and can be disabled by simply squeezing the small tubular structures with a tweezers. This effectively breaks the bulb and eliminates its capacity to glow. Put all the pieces back together in reverse order of the above instructions and you will only have the continually glowing red LED. After this procedure the device charges normally, but the blinking blue light no longer flashes when charging. I wanted this device for my nightstand to charge while I sleep. It was useless for that purpose until I disabled the blue light as described above. I would give the procedure a degree of difficulty rating of three out of ten with one being the lowest. Good luck!

iPhone 7 Review: vs. iPhone 6S

iPhone 7 vs. iPhone 6
iPhone 7 vs. iPhone 6

I have both iPhone 6S and 7 and see some improvements.

The iPhone 7 is almost identical to the iPhone 6S, but as we all know, lacks headphone jack.

The improvements, that I’ve noticed so far are:

– better battery life

– slightly better photos (especially the ones in low light)

– faster processor

– water-resistant

– brighter screen

– louder sound

The thing that took me a while to get used to is a new home button that is not ‘clickable’ anymore. I must say I preferred the old button. Now, I have the feeling that the click is happening ‘inside’ the Phone, rather than on its surface. It works perfectly well though.

The lack of a headphone jack is a small con for now, since there’s no many lightning-compatible headphones yet. I hate the dongle so decided on buying the new headphones.

They are pricey, but work great. When testing Siri( turns on after double tapping on the earpiece), they pick up voice pretty well, although I tried to speak very clearly.

What is interesting, the audio pauses when you pop a headphone out when talking to someone – pretty nice feature.

The AirPods’ battery lasts for 5-6 h of continuous use, although the voice calls use more energy.

I’d recommend getting ones, since their quality is pretty good and they are easy to charge and store ( come with a case that recharges the pieces). The disadvantage is obviously the price… They’re also easy to loose.

Forget about using wired headphones and charging in the same time… Unless you want to get another adapter, that will give you 2 lightning ports… ( Offered by Belkin)

About the water resistivity:

That feature wasn’t meant to be tested but I accidentally dropped my phone to a sink with running water and it surviver…I wouldn’t recommend washing your phone when it gets dirty though…

Camera:

Unfortunately, the iPhone7 doesn’t have the second lens( as the iPhone plus has), The selfie camera was improved though, and I see a difference between evening photos taken with iPhone 6S and 7.

The sound:

Significantly louder, stereo. (Could hear the music while doing my dishes).

The battery:

The new battery is much better. I can listen to the music almost all day long, browse the internet for a few hours, make couple of calls and use other apps without charging my iPhone7 in the middle of the day.

I also noticed that it takes less to fully charge the phone.

The Phone performance is quite faster. I feel it while editing pictures or playing games and stream music in the same time.

Overall, I’m happy with the purchase even though I have iPhone 6S. The battery life, sound and water resistivity were convincing enough to give a new model a try.

The con is that you must spend additional money on headphones (unless you want to use bangle or Lightning EarPods). The Apple’s wireless headphones are expensive, but definitely high quality.

iPhone SE User Review: To upgrade or not to upgrade?

Finally! Apple puts out a phone that’s affordable to buy unlocked and that’s not refurbished or intentionally under-powered! I’ve been struggling with Android phones for years. It’s pretty much the same problem: Battery life drain for being in a bad signal area. Also, the customer service with these companies are horrible (Blu and Motorola, I’m looking at you!).

iphone se

Since so far I am the only reviewer who actually has an iPhone SE (the other reviewer who wrote a review on 3/28 isn’t real), I see it as my duty to present this iPhone to you. Yes, I do have this phone (pictures provided!) and I am writing a real review.

Okay, there has been a hype for about a few months now, and the new 4″ iPhone is finally here. Some important points to take note of are that this phone has the exact same body as the iPhone 5 and 5s. Literally the exact same. Unlike the 6s that was slightly larger than the iPhone 6, this iPhone will fit each and every case and screen protector made for the iPhone 5 and 5s. Really the only difference is that this phone comes with matte edges instead of chrome, and the legal labels on the back are removed.

The next point was that this phone is better than the iPhone 6 (and much cheaper). Don’t let the 4″ screen fool you, this iPhone’s stats are mostly on par or better than the iPhone 6 (and no, bigger screen is not better). Take the resolution. 326 ppi, same as iPhone 6. A9 chip, better and faster than the A8 in the iPhone 6. If pictures are your thing, there is a 12-megapixel iSight camera, better than the one in the iPhone 6. Don’t forget Improved noise reduction, also better than the iPhone 6. Don’t forget the panorama that features up to 63 megapixels, you guessed it, better than the iPhone 6’s 43 megapixels. Oh, and I almost forgot (not really), 4K video is a blast. For selfies, the iPhone SE now features Retina flash, or flash from the screen. Battery life: the iPhone SE has the best battery life of all iPhone for sale today in terms of internet use time.

So should you upgrade? I will start with those without a contract. If you hold any iPhone with a 4″ screen or smaller, and you are free from any contracts, then yes you should upgrade. This includes current users of iPhone 1/3G/3GS/4/4S/5/5c/5s. Here’s why. If you are without a contract, you probably paid more for your current phone than you will for this one. Given that you were able to afford a full price iPhone, you can definitely enjoy the features of this phone. The way I see it, this phone is the perfect way to enjoy an iPhone 6s without the huge cost (and the 3D touch).

iPhone 6 users, this one is a 50/50 call. You really should be happy with your phone, but, then again, I pretty much just trashed your phone in the specs throw down above. This one is a tough call, and one you and your wallet should decide.

Those with a contract, if your contract is almost over, rejoice, you can get this phone for free. But, since you are shopping on Amazon for this phone, I assume you are not in a contract. However, if you are still in a contract for a while, it is up to you to decide if this phone is worth breaking your contract over. And also you could get unrivaled protection from drops, dust and scratches with iPhone SE cases from TAGreat.com.

I hope you enjoyed reading this review more than I enjoyed writing it. If you have any questions, my email is on my profile page, and you should feel free to contact me. I, however, am not a representative from Apple, and you might just get better answers there. Who knows?
